Concerto

current mood: happy

Ok, the Dresden Dolls has got to be one of the best concerts I've been to. They were fucking awesome, as were the opening acts.

The first act was Meow Meow ( ), who I can only describe as a performance artist (of the non-pretentious vein)/drunk lounge singer. She was hilarious, and did a hilarious crowd surf, with one strap off her dress to "make it more dangerous". Had a hell of a voice and a keen sense of humor.

After that, the Lexington High School drama troupe (so cool) did an odd little skit. I could totally imagine you Prouty theater kids doing something similar.

Next was Luminescent Orchestrii, a quartet from Brooklyn who played a bunch of modified European folk tunes on fiddles, a zydeco style guitar, and a single bass. Very entertaining, different music.

The Dolls were, well, amazing. Amanda had a cold, but you couldn't tell from her singing and dancing at the piano.
Plus, they covered a song from Cabaret, as well as Fight for Your Right to Party and Two-Headed Boy.
Full set list. )
The crowd was one of the coolest bits- it was a really diverse crowd, which I was not expecting! The couple behind us were well into their forties, and we saw some really cool older (think 70's+) in the crowd. Who didn't leave when the acts began. So nifty! There were people dressed up, a guy who looked like Mr. St-Jean in red suspenders with a book, and more than a couple families.

But yeah, I'd recommend seeing the Dresden Dolls in concert, if you get a chance. The tickets are pretty cheap, and it is extremely entertaining.

current mood: relaxed

Winter break, finally.
After some last minute scurrying around, I'm home in RI. The past few days were hectic since Zak rendered my car not-highway-worthy (still love that sweet little fucker though), so I had to hustle and get a new car. I now have a VW passat, which has considerably more 'VROOM' than the volvo did.
Chatty is down here in RI, my love is in San Francisco, and my dad is snoring very loudly in the next room. We rented Hot Fuzz, and my parents really liked it.
I'm very excited about seeing the Dresden Dolls next week. It's too bad I didn't get the expensive NYC new year's eve tickets- that show is now officially a masquerade, which I think is cool. People watching will still be awesome, though...
I gave blood yesterday- free cookies, free wooziness.
Ah, I get so tired after I donate.
Nappy naps time.

current mood: mellow
current song: Dizzee Rascal ft. Lily Allen- "Wanna Be"

Now that I have a job again, I have to admit, I kind of missed working. Express is a nice place to work, even if they play music that gets stuck in my head. The only really sucky part is that the floor is concrete with tile over it, so it really hurts to stand and walk on after 4+ hours. I like the challenge of helping people find clothes that suit them. Granted, we do get some of the women that could wear a paper bag and it would look wonderful. I don't really like having to hawk the credit card that our store offers- I don't really like it when salespeople do it to me- but we are expected to, and tend to get more hours if we get more people to sign up. Thankfully, I'm pretty decent at sales so far, so if I lag a little with the card it can even out.
Unfortunately, the Barnes and Noble has opened up ACROSS THE HALL FROM EXPRESS. I leave work, with paycheck in hand, and look directly at Barnes and Noble.

[info]vivider and my fellow bookworms, can you feel my pain? On one hand, groceries. On the other? Well, you know the drill.

Chatty is sleeping (how exciting!), Zak is playing TF2 (apparently he is off his game, though ;_; ).

I really like this song..
What do you know about bein' a hardman? Your mom buys your bling.

cheerful

current mood: cheerful

Sitting on the bed, boyfriend on one side, playing Oblivion, cat on the other, sleeping and looking cute.

I went to go get a job at Sephora today at Colonie Mall, but apparently they're full up. However, I got into a conversation with a manager at Express and now have a job there.
On the downside, I have to go there for 8am on Saturday.
I get to sell clothes, as well as buy them at a 30% discount :D

I'm on 18/19 of Portal. I love the game's sense of humor. Especially the androids. Cute, cute androids. I'm glad they won't hold it against me.

In other news, here are some pictures of my cat:

Uniform (Royal) Blues

mellow

current mood: mellow

I'm a little disappointed in my winter break. It will be all of 2 weeks long, since I go to Samaritan for classes starting Jan. 4th.

Also, the uniforms for nursing school are dumb. I mean, I wasn't expecting a flattering white latex nurse dress and stockings, complete with 5" heels, but it would be nice to not wear a zip-up top and bright blue pants.
I suppose the hospital would have to worry about patients with latex allergies if we had the aforementioned getup. Do they make fetish clothing in nitrile?
..If so, would it be that hideous/cute purple like the gloves?

It just occurred to me that I'll be back in uniforms after taking a year off from them. NO ESCAPE.

I think I'll steal Zak's camera and take some pictures of Chatteford.

Dungeons and Dragons

current mood: geeky
current song: Ludacris- "Move Bitch"

Ok, this isn't about kinky dungeons (awww, I think I just made myself bored with this entry), but I need to just bounce around about this for a sec.

I really liked my first experience DMing, even if it was a plain session to get myself back into the +2-to-hit swing of things.
I'm also excited for the next couple of sessions, when we start getting into the adventuring and plot of things. DMing is a lot more demanding than being a PC, but I kind of like it, despite the hassles.
The problem is, 3 (read: all) of the people I live with are in the campaign. Therefore, I can't really bounce too many of my ideas off of them- I feel like I have a whole world growing in my head and no one to tell about it.
I want to thank the players for bearing with me, though, and only getting distracted towards the end.

I really do love D&D though.
But I won't marry it.
Then I would never get laid.

I found out one of my classmates died yesterday in a car crash.
She was a great, lively person, and was extremely nice to talk to. We weren't close friends, but worked together on a lot of group assignments, thereby chatting. A lot. Add that to class counsel, and she showed up a lot in my high school life.

It's really a shame.
I wish you had been able to grow up and enjoy college and life, Kristen.
19 really is too young to go, especially from an accident.
